Nan Goldin...

"NICO SINGS.."I'll be your mother." The velvet Underground virtually buffets us with this song. It strikes at us, and reaches down to disturb us. Not in vanity but as a desperate cry for sanity. It is sung to ghosts; to a generation that has benn artfully misrepresented, scientically marketed, packaged, sold and sold again since birth. Abused in manys ways, bruised far deeper that surface wounds reveal, and confused by the volume and intensity of the nosiy void of contempoary culture, the generation has a distinctly unreal sense of itself. "I'll be your mirror" speaks to the cancerous alienation which essentially defines the anguished soul of post was youth culture."

This is the first quote from the Nan Goldin book " I'll be your mirror" curated by Elisabeth Sussman and David Armstrong; I think trying o convey Godlins love of Lou Reed poetry and The Velvet Undergrounds music.

I've decided o read this book very slowly and soak up everything in it, already I'm finding it extremely difficult to put it down, as it is very well presented and writen!!!
Two words...... Love It!
