Photography and Me

Ok a personal Artist statement about no other than me!
So that's ten words already I'm getting good at this.

Well... I've decided to start a degree course in Griffith College,
It's a Degree course in Photographic Media ( Very Cool Title huh??)


Had our induction and all that blah! And then had our first class with Caroline, HI..Larious... I wasn't sure what it would be like, Writing Skills! as you can probably tell already I am really not a writer ( give me an image or even a piece of paper and a pencil! )

It was scary Caroline and Paul (my "Ways Of Seeing" lecturer) went through so many things i was like, mmm epp! get me out of here!
But then after about an hour and a half I settled in.
I was seriously in need of a cig though!

As the week went on I settled in more, talked to a few people and got my head around being back on college,
I haven't been in a class room environment for... oh god more years the i will ever admit ;)

I've been back here about 3 weeks and it's going great!
I have my first roll of black and white film to be processed tomorrow night and I'm really looking forward to it,
I shall let all you guys out there in blogger land how I get on, if it works and even if it doesn't!





I'm trying to fill up 200 hundred words here to be honest with you all, and I'm finding a tad tricky!
So I have decided to waffle away and name some photographers I admire and like.

So how about Catherine Opie, I'm really loving her work one of my favourite shows was her 'Girlfriends' work,
I didn't get to see it first hand I think she showed it in some galleries in America, L.A and New York maybe.

I'm also a little bit in love with Richard Billingham and Annie Lebiwitz
( god i hope that's how her surname it spelled)
Diane Arbus, Walker Evans, Robert Frank.... the list is endless for me at the minute!
I've found that the more classes i go to and the more my world opens up to imaging the more photographers i become aware of,
I mean every Thursday I have the more formal Class with one of my lecturer Sally and she gives us the name after name .. after name of photographers, its blowing my mind!!


Now i suppose i should throw up one of my first pic's and then I will ( and you will hahaha) be able to see my progression over the next year
